How to Apply
The Roughrider Scholarship is awarded to seniors at Center High School. Applicants complete the General Scholarship Application available in the CHS Counseling Office by the announced deadline.
The application is also available for download in PDF format. Click here to download the RSF Application.
Applicants are required to participate in an interview conducted each spring by the RSF Interview committee. The committee is comprised of members of the community selected by RSF board members. The committee selects the recipients of the scholarship based on the application submitted and interview held.
The scholarship amount is determined by the Board of Trustees each year based on interest available and is paid directly to the college, university or technical school the student designates. Funds are dispersed in two payments; one half of the award amount in the fall and spring following the student’s graduation.
Should the student fail to enroll in a college, university or technical school, the scholarship funds are returned to the Foundation. Scholarships are non-renewable.
2007 Scholarships
The Board selected an interview committee who interviewed 2007 seniors who were interested in receiving a Roughrider Scholarship. The board determined that approximately 82 recipients would receive a $900 scholarship. The scholarship money is mailed directly to the schools students plan to attend. Approximately $73,800 was awarded. The money used to fund these scholarships is from the interest gained through investments of the foundation’s principal.
The scholarship award night was in May at the Center High School Cafetorium. Your generous donations to the Roughrider Scholarship Foundation make the scholarships possible.
